The Swiss data ecosystem aims to promote the multiple use of data by stakeholders in business, government, academia and the general public in order to exploit the full potential of data. The documents ‘Architectural Vision’ and ‘Principles’ outline the vision for the Swiss data ecosystem’s architecture and establish fundamental principles.
To enable the interoperable and trustworthy multiple use of data in the Swiss data ecosystem, predefined structures and clear guidelines for setting up data spaces are needed. Only then can a comprehensive, functioning data ecosystem be developed. The following two documents provide guidance and support in this regard:
Architectural Vision describes, at a high level of abstraction, the target outcomes of further developing the Swiss data ecosystem. For example, it identifies and categorises various stakeholder groups that influence the data ecosystem through their roles, interests, and means of influence. This categorisation ensures that each group's needs are considered and that they are involved in the development process.
The architectural vision takes a long-term, strategic approach and is designed to cover a wide range of technical requirements.
Principles draws on the principles of the 2050 Architectural Vision, including the ‘once-only principle’. Further principles such as the ‘decentralised and modular principle’ have also been developed specifically for the data ecosystem. Overall, eight principles form the basis for developing the Swiss data ecosystem.
Both documents are based on national and international references and are continuously updated.
