Nicole Lamon, Vice Chancellor and Federal Council Spokesperson

Nicole Lamon has served as Vice Chancellor and Federal Council Spokesperson since 1 August 2025. In coordination with the Federal Chancellor, she informs the media and the public on behalf of the Federal Council, advises the Federal Council on communication matters, and coordinates the information activities of the Federal Council, the departments and the Federal Chancellery. As head of the Federal Chancellery’s Communications Section, she supervises some 40 employees.

Born in 1971, Nicole Lamon grew up in Sion and earned her licentiate degree in 1997 from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lausanne. She brings extensive leadership experience in institutional communication, public relations and journalism. After training as a journalist and working at Radio-Rhône FM and Le Nouvelliste, she joined Radio Suisse Romande in 2001 as a reporter. She later became a Federal Palace correspondent and, in 2009, took charge of political coverage at public broadcaster RTS. In 2012, Federal Councillor Alain Berset appointed her Head of Communications at the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA), a role she held until 2019. From 2020 to 2023, she served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief at Le Matin Dimanche, before heading domestic news coverage at Le Temps.

Nicole Lamon is a native French speaker and resides in Bern.
