Communities of Practice

To ensure the broad validation and expansion of the Swiss data ecosystem and the derived principles, two communities of practice (CoP) will be closely involved in the work from mid-2024. One CoP will concentrate on strategic aspects, while the other will have a technical focus.

The foundations of the Swiss data ecosystem will be validated and jointly developed with interested stakeholders in order to ensure that they deliver tangible benefits. Two communities of practice (CoP) will be set up for this purpose: one with a strategic focus and one with a technical focus.

Community of practice:
A community of practice (CoP) is a group of people who share a common interest or activity and who regularly exchange their knowledge and experience.

The strategic CoP will address issues related to the interaction of different data spaces and their embedding in the data ecosystem. Potential areas covered by this CoP include vision and governance, legal challenges and fundamental considerations for the design of the data ecosystem.

The business and technical CoP will focus on architectural issues and specific topics related to the sharing of data. It will address the design of the various elements required for an interoperable and trustworthy data ecosystem.

The objectives of the two CoPs are as follows:

Broad coordination of data space projects
Learning from existing initiatives
Validation and further development of architecture and governance principles
Joint development of solutions for data sharing

Members

The members of the communities of practice are informed several times a year about the current status and next steps. The CoP members are always invited to participate in validations and preparations, which enables them to shape their own work.
