Federal Chancellery FCh
The Federal Chancellery is the staff office of the Federal Council: it ensures that the Federal Council can make informed decisions and actively communicate them to the public. It is responsible for coordination within the Federal Administration and supports it in the digital transformation process as well as in crisis management. As guardian of the people’s rights, the Federal Chancellery organises federal elections and referendums.
Areas of responsibility

Federal Council affairs
The Federal Chancellery organises the Federal Council meetings along with the respective presidential department. These meetings take place almost every week.

Political rights
Along with the cantons, the Federal Chancellery organises federal elections and popular votes. Referendum and initiative committees submit the signatures they collect to the Federal Chancellery.

Communication
Via media conferences and social media, the Federal Chancellery ensures that the public is informed about the decisions reached by the Federal Council.

Digital transformation and ICT steering
The Federal Chancellery coordinates the digital transformation of the federal administration. In doing so, it works closely with the departments.

Strategic management
The Federal Chancellery keeps abreast of international trends and develops scenarios for the future. This helps the Federal Council to make policy decisions.

Languages
German, French, Italian, and sometimes Romansh or English: the Federal Chancellery ensures that laws and official texts are understandable and correct.
