The cloud strategy complements Switzerland's eGovernment strategy regarding the use of cloud computing. It describes how the Swiss authorities want to deal with the newly emerging possibilities and what measures should be taken so that the risks associated with cloud deployment are minimised and that the opportunities which open up can also be used in particular to support eGovernment. The cloud strategy will be supplemented by a catalogue of implementation measures. Due to the fact that cloud services are very often procured externally, the cloud computing strategy also contains elements of a sourcing strategy.
Cloud strategy 2012-2020
The strategy was drawn up by the Federal IT Steering Unit (FITSU) together with experts from the Confederation, the cantons, communes and enterprises affiliated with the Confederation. It was approved by the eGovernment steering committee on 25 October 2012. The strategy is addressed primarily to the Confederation, the cantons, communes and enterprises affiliated with the Confederation and secondly to interested business circles, in particular cloud providers.
